Gratitude

It will change your life

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have, into enough, & more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie. I have found it also brings peace of mind, abundance, joy, freedom, unconditional love, acceptance and forgiveness of ourselves and others. Have a blessed day.

Avoiding Valentines Day

Posted by Michael Hughes

Generally I have always avoided Valentines Day like the plague. I typically would never arrange a date on the weekend prior to or whenever you were ‘supposed’ to ‘celebrate’ Valentines Day. Too much pressure, she might get the wrong message when in fact we are just dating. My neck tightened at the mere thought of Valentines Day and how I would strategically avoid it this year. After divorce then dating for ten, yes ten years, I gave up. I thought well I will just be alone and I’m okay with that.  About 9 months in to that scenario, I went to a Holiday party with no expectations at a friends’ house on Pine St. I saw a wonderful woman across the room. I started talking to her and acted like I knew her (I had found out what her name was from a friend), but she saw through my very clever ruse. Hmm cute and smart. I got her email address and held off contacting her for a couple weeks. When we did finally meet for “tea” I was pleasantly surprised. Cute, smart and normal as in not crazy. I was no longer going to get away with texting “u r gr8 let’s m8”

Well turns out now 2 years after meeting my girlfriend, Valentines Day is a fun holiday and also a great reason to drink wine and have great conversations. Have a great Valentines Day and enjoy the journey.

Happiness is a choice and Joy is a journey.
